Generally, your NEXT workspace will be set up in the best possible way for your needs. In some cases, especially if you signed up via the website on your own, you may want to change your transcription engine.

Here are a few things to consider.

For most cases

For most people, AssemblyAI or Gladia are the preferred option, depending on whether EU data hosting is a requirement. They offer the best balance between speed, accuracy and performance. For larger file sizes, opt for AssemblyAI, for EU data hosting choose Gladia.

EU data residency

If your data needs to be hosted in the EU, make sure you choose one of these transcription engines:

  • Gladia

  • Gladia V2

  • Rev

Specific languages

If you notice that your recordings are transcribed in an incorrect language, you might be using a transcription engine that's not currently supporting your language. In that case, we recommend you to switch to Gladia or Gladia V2.

Large or long files

If you upload recordings that are longer than 500MB or more than 2:15 hours, you'll best best off using AssemblyAI. For more special language (e.g. Swedish) and large files, choose Gladia and we'll automatically switch you to one that supports large files when required.
