Connect Slack

Quick start

Connect Slack in NEXT, then build an automation that sends workflow output to one or more Slack channels. Automation messages are posted by the NEXT bot, so invite the NEXT bot to every channel where an automation should post.

Manual Share to Slack actions still post through the Slack user who connected the integration.

If you need help building the automation itself, see Set up automation.

Why connect Slack?

Slack is often where teams route operational updates, customer signals, and follow-up work. Connecting Slack to NEXT lets automations publish generated summaries, alerts, and workflow results into the channels where teams already coordinate.

  • It lets NEXT automations send workflow output to Slack channels.
  • It makes automated messages clearly come from the NEXT bot instead of the integration owner.
  • It keeps manual Slack sharing available for user-driven posting.

What the integration does

This integration supports Slack actions from NEXT.

  • Write-back from NEXT: automations can post messages to Slack channels.
  • Manual sharing from NEXT: users can share content to Slack through their connected Slack user account.

How connection works

  1. In NEXT, open Settings -> Integrations -> Slack.
  2. Click Connect and complete the Slack OAuth flow.
  3. In Slack, invite the NEXT bot to every channel where automations should post.
  4. Return to NEXT and use Slack as an automation action destination.

Configuration notes

  • Automation messages use the NEXT bot token.
  • Manual Share to Slack messages use the connected Slack user's token.
  • Slack requires the bot to be a member of private channels before it can post there.

Troubleshooting

NEXT cannot post an automation message to Slack

Check the following:

  • The NEXT bot was invited to the target Slack channel.
  • The channel still exists and is not archived.
  • The Slack integration is connected in the same Teamspace as the automation.
  • The Slack workspace still has the NEXT app installed.

If the NEXT bot is not in a target channel, the automation step fails and reports that the bot cannot access or post to that channel.
