Share to Linear

Use Share to Linear when you want to turn a chat, highlight, or cluster in NEXT into a Linear issue with the original context attached.

Linear sharing is configured through a saved workspace URL in Settings → Integrations → Linear. Once the connection exists, you can choose it from the share flow whenever you want to send work to Linear.

Before You Start

  • Open the teamspace where you want to configure the Linear connection.
  • Have the Linear workspace URL ready.
  • Make sure you can create issues in the Linear workspace you want to use.

Steps to Connect (One-Time)

  1. In NEXT, open Settings → Integrations → Linear.
  2. Click Connect.
  3. Create a new connection.
  4. Enter the Linear workspace URL and save the connection.
  5. Repeat this setup if you use more than one Linear workspace.

Steps to Share

  1. Open the chat, highlight, or cluster you want to share.
  2. Click Share and choose Linear.
  3. Review the share text and confirm the share.

NEXT creates a Linear issue in the connected workspace and includes a link back to the source in NEXT.

When Should I Use Linear?

  • Use Linear when your team triages and manages product or engineering work there.
  • Use Linear when you want a lightweight path from customer evidence to an issue.
  • Use Linear when you want the issue to start with a direct link back to the original evidence in NEXT.

Tips

  • Keep the issue title concise so it is easy to scan in Linear.
  • Use the description to capture the broader context and let the NEXT link carry the source evidence.
  • If you use multiple Linear workspaces, create separate connections so each share target is explicit.

Troubleshooting

  • Linear is not available in the share menu. Connect Linear first in Settings → Integrations → Linear for the current teamspace.
  • The workspace is wrong. Check the saved Linear workspace URL and reconnect if needed.
  • The share fails with a permission error. Make sure your account can create issues in the connected Linear workspace.
  • Bulk sharing starts failing after many requests. Linear rate limits API usage, so stagger large batches if needed.
