Chat Modes
Use chat modes when you want NEXT to shape the output before it starts analyzing your prompt.
Each mode changes what NEXT tries to produce, from grouped themes and evidence retrieval to presentations, web-backed context, or audio-friendly summaries. Use the pages in this section to pick the mode that fits the job.
If you do not choose a mode, Chat stays in its default behavior. That default is the broad, flexible option for everyday use: it helps you explore a question, narrow the focus, pull together relevant insights, and move from a vague prompt toward a useful answer without forcing the work into a specialized format.
What Each Mode Is Best For
| Mode | Acts Like | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Default | General analyst | Explores a question, summarizes what matters, and helps shape an answer without locking into a specialized format. |
| Clusters | Pattern finder | Groups scattered signals into clearer themes. |
| Hypothesis | Claim validator | Tests a claim and shows whether the available information supports it, weakens it, or leaves it unresolved. |
| Evidence | Case builder | Gathers supporting proof around a topic or conclusion. |
| Podcast | Narrative producer | Shapes findings into spoken, listenable output. |
| Slides | Story shaper | Packages the material into a presentation-ready flow for an audience. |
| Web search | External researcher | Looks beyond your teamspace for broader context, examples, or trends. |
